Some challenges can be repeated—the more you read, the better your odds!

Important Dates:

  • Start Date: Summer Reading begins Friday, June 21st. Join us at our kick-off event at the Ice Cream Cottage (12 Ferry Street) to sign up in person and receive a free small ice cream.
  • Sign-Up: Can’t make the kick-off? Sign up anytime between June 21st and August 23rd, either online or at the circulation desk.
  • Raffle Deadline: All raffle tickets must be turned in to the library by August 23rd. Winners will be announced on August 24th.

What to Expect:

Summer Reading is for ALL AGES, with packets designed for kids (12 and under), teens (12-18), and adults (18+). This year’s theme, "Read, Renew, Repeat," focuses on conservation. Conservation efforts aim to protect species from extinction, maintain and restore habitats, enhance ecosystem services, and safeguard biological diversity. Challenges may be related to conservation (e.g., read a book outside) or more general (e.g., read a book in a series).

We have a variety of related summer events, so be sure to check out our events calendar! As you read and learn with us this summer, we hope you enjoy the benefits of reading as a restorative method for self-improvement and self-preservation. Read, Renew, Repeat!

The Massachusetts Statewide Summer Library Program is funded by the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
