Application for Use of the Rita E. Steele Auditorium
The Millicent Library will be available for use by non-profit gatherings of a civic, cultural, or educational nature. The meeting room is not available for the use of private individuals or commercial enterprises.
Millicent Library programs and functions will have first priority in the scheduling of events at the Library. The library reserves the right to prioritize scheduled library programs over existing meeting room reservations if necessary.
The meeting space, located in the Rita E. Steele Auditorium in the lower level of the library will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. The Library is selective in assigning use of its meeting room because the room is often used for Library services and functions. The Library will not store supplies or other equipment.
The meeting space at the Millicent Library is located in the lower floor auditorium.
The following regulations must be observed in the use of the Rita E. Steele Auditorium:
- The library reserves the right to prioritize scheduled library programs over existing meeting room reservations if necessary.
- The meeting must be limited to no more than fifty (50) individuals.
- No admission fee may be charged.
- Each group is responsible for leaving the room as found, and for the replacement of lost or damaged equipment.
- The responsibility for opening and closing the Library meeting room is reserved to the staff of the Millicent Library.
- Any group whose meeting will extend beyond the regular library hours of operation will be required to pay 1 1/2 times the regular hourly rate of the library staff who remains on duty. A one-hour minimum is required and no meeting may extend beyond 10:00 P.M. In the event a staff person is not available, the use of the meeting room will not be approved.
- It is understood that the public is welcome to attend at all meetings.
- No advertising literature may be distributed at the meetings without prior permission of the Director.
- No alcoholic beverages may be served.
- An authorized representative of the group must inform the library staff two weekdays in advance as to what arrangement of furniture and equipment is desired. Prompt notice of cancellations is required.
- Only the preparation of light refreshments involving no cooking will be permitted in the Library. Water is available for use in preparing coffee or tea. Any group serving refreshments must provide their own dishes, utensils, linens, etc.
- The fact that a group is permitted to meet at the Millicent Library does not, in any way, constitute an endorsement of the group's policies or beliefs.
- The Library reserves the right to revoke permission to use any meeting room.
- Nothing may be attached to the walls without permission.
