Dedicated in a ceremony held Saturday, May 26,2001 by the East Fairhaven Improvement Association, the boulder sign is a symbol of the hard work of past members of the association who helped build Fairhaven into the community it is today. The boulder rests in front of the old East Fairhaven fire station which has been restored. In addition to the boulder sign, a new elm tree (pictured at right) was planted in memory of past member Nelson Silva, who worked on the sign committee prior to his passing in March of 2000. Flowers from Kenny’s Farm stand also decorate the site. The ceremony ended with a roll call of the names of deceased EFIA members by family who continue their work in the association. This was followed by a moment of silence.
